As per the latest newspaper reports, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Goa President, Ahraz Mulla has written a letter to the President, Prime Minister and Union HRD Ministry requesting them to postpone NEET 2019 exam, in view of difficulties faced by students due to cyclone ‘Fani’ in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

Many entrance exams have been canceled due to cyclone Fani. Forecast by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) of the United States Navy, The wind speed before landfall would be about 175 kmph and pass through Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack (Niali), Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts before going to West Bengal.

As of now, for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET 2019), a letter has been sent. Officials are yet to make a decision on this. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held on May 05, 2019. Recently, NTA changed few centers for the entrance exam and re-issued the NEET Admit Card for the candidates.

Another important medical entrance exam which has been postponed is AIIMS PG 2019 entrance test. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has notified that it has canceled the exam to be conducted at the exam center in Bhubaneshwar, at which the exam was supposed to be held on May 06, 2019.

Preparing for either NEET, AIIMS or any other entrance exam requires a lot of concentration and dedication. The cyclone FANI that has reached the coastal belt of East India has created destruction, with no power supply and other unavailability of other basic needs, hence, making it near impossible for students to prepare for any kind of tests.

In the letter sent by NSUI Goa President, “The students have dedicated 2 years to clear this test, but due to the cyclone it would not be right to conduct this test for the entire country considering the fact that it is an All India Exam with admission based on merit”.

Not only entrance exams, but semester exams have also been postponed. Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has postponed the timetable of semester examinations today due to the extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘FANI’ in Odisha. The exams were scheduled to be held on May 02 to 04, 2019. However, the exam has now been postponed and shifted to May 25 to 28, 2019. The examinations were to be held in 164 colleges of BPUT.

Another University which has canceled their exam is Utkal University. The examinations were scheduled to be held from May 02 to 04, 2019, which has now been postponed. The re-examination dates have not yet been announced by the University. It will be notified when the cyclone is over.

One of another important exam which has been rescheduled is Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations to be conducted in Bangladesh. Prof Muhammad Ziaul Haque, the inter-board coordination subcommittee chief, has announced that the government has suspended all board exams. The HSC exam for Mathematics (First paper) and Islamic Studies (First paper) that were earlier scheduled to be held on the morning of Saturday, will now be held on May 14, 2019. Similarly, the Home Economics (First paper) is going to be held on May 14, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The HSC and its equivalent examinations began on April 01, 2019 and will end until May 11, 2019. As per the reports, around 1,138,747 candidates are taking part in the exams under eight general education boards of the country.

I think this is a tough time for people who get effected by this natural disaster. Neet exam should be postponed for some days for the students who are facing this trouble. This is a national level exam to we should consider the environment and condition of whole nation.

In view of the cyclone ‘Fani’, NEET must be cancelled. It’s very true that students have dedicated two years or more for the NEET preparation and now in the last one two dayz, they require much more focus than before ever. So this was proved impossible for students belonging to the regions that are facing the cyclone. We r satisfied with the cancellation of NEET on 5 May 2019.

Postpone NEET 2019 date because of the cyclone Fani, it caused massive destruction and now it’s more like impossible to give the exams day after tomorrow with not even the essential needs. Sir plz change the date of the exam as the mission of all India 1 medical exam was to check the merit of students and performance on 1 common question paper which will be distributed if the effected states have a different date of medical exam…with a different question paper. So its an earnest request Sir, plz understand the problems students gonna face if it’s to happen on 5th May after working hard like a donkey for 2 long years.

NEET is a life changing exam.. In this crucial time about 4 States are facing extreme problems.. The NTA have to consider them .NEET should be postponed …otherwise, they should show the minimum manners to answer the queries about postpone chances.

I think NTA should postpone the exam because
= if NTA move according to the schedule for exam then someone is bound to appeal in supreme Court for re-examination because of the FANI situation and so last 4 yrs trend of medical exam will repeat itself and examination will be cancelled.
= Centres are already paid for one time examination, if NTA wishes to go with existing plan and somehow supreme Court decides to cancel exam , NTA might have to schedule next exam from their own pocket . (Unnecessary wastage of money)
= If medical aspirants attend examination on 5 may and then NTA cancels it , it’ll bring heavy amount of pressure on students (which can be avoided)

Considering the hard work and dedication of the students of these states NEET must be postponed! Similar case occured regarding ICAR exam during kerala floods. They didn’t postponed ty exam and almost all the children were unable to attend the exam. This should be the case of NEET this year as students have prepared their heart and core to this exam. Being unable to attend the exam is a very difficult situation. NEET MUST BE POSTPONED. Hope NTA will take the right decision soon.
