NEET 2018: Latest News on Admit Card, Final Hearing On Age and Open School

To qualify National Eligibility cum Entrance Test requires a lot of efforts. Hard work, dedication, and continuous self motivation are paramount in determining success. With that in mind, the sole focus of over one million candidates who have applied for NEET 2018 should right now be preparations.

However, one hand, downloading admit card is important for all applicants. On the other hand, those who were formerly ineligible due to age or being from open school also need to know what its final judgement is.

Of the two things, first one regarding admit card of NEET 2018 is quite straightforward. The admit card or hall ticket will release in second week of April at cbseneet.nic.in. When the board releases it, a link to download admit card will become visible on the website. When that happens, applicants can click on the link, log in using registration number and password, and download admit card. The only confusion, in this case, may be the exact date of release of admit card.

CBSE will decide the exact date and time on which it will release admit card. However, candidates need not worry. It will be a comfortable amount of time before exam. Roll number and exam centre should be noted. Candidate needs to appear for exam at that centre only which is in admit card.

The next item of concern is final decision on who is actually eligible for NEET 2018. Story so far stands like this: In CBSE NEET information brochure, candidates who are more than 25 years (or 30 in case of reserved category), students from open school, and also those who studied biology as additional subject are/were ineligible for NEET. This witnessed a lot of opposition from many students. As a result, Delhi High Court, in its 28th February judgement, gave interim relief to all those students. Thus, all could apply for NEET 2018 but their final fate lies in the hands of the Supreme Court who will pass judgement in April.

Matters stand thus, that court shall look into matters and decide judiciously. Whatever decision is taken, will be for a greater good. It shall be final and binding.

Central Board of Secondary Education has no role as such in fixing eligibility. It is up to Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India, and other authorities such as MHRD.

Candidates are advised to focus on preparations and check news on this at regular intervals. Final hearing is in this month only.
