The National Council of Science Museums has published joint recruitment notifications to fill up vacancies for the posts of Secretary and Curator ‘B’. The detailed recruitment notification containing the information about the vacancies, terms, and conditions of recruitment and important dates is available for download at the website of the Council i.e. ncsm.gov.in. 06 vacancies have been advertised for the aforementioned posts which are to be filled up through direct recruitment process or by deputation method in cases where direct recruitment cannot take place. The last date to apply for the recruitment is August 31, 2020.
As per the official recruitment notification, a single vacancy is available for the post of Secretary while there are 05 vacancies for the post of Curator ‘B’ (Mechanical Engineering/Electronics/Physics/Computer Science). The candidate selected for appointment to the post of Secretary is entitled to be placed at a Level 13A in the pay scale of Rs 1321100 to Rs 216600 (total emoluments of Rs 1,93,275). On the other hand, candidates selected for appointment to the post of Curator ‘B’ are entitled to Pay Level 10 at the scale of Rs 56100 – 177500 (total emoluments starting at Rs 87525).
The Council has specified the necessary minimum eligibility conditions to apply for each advertised post. Candidates having a Master’s degree in Science/Commerce/Arts with a minimum of 55% marks are eligible to apply for the post of Secretary although a degree in law is desirable. Such candidates must also have 20 years of experience in administrative role out of which at least 12 years must be in the Level 11 in the Pay Scale of Rs 67700-208700 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Matrix. The maximum permissible age of applicants for the Secretary post is 55 years as on 31.08.2020.
In order to apply for the post of Curator ‘B’, candidates must not be more than 35 years. However, OBC candidates can apply till the age of 38 years while ST candidates can apply till the age of 40 years. It is essential that such applicants have a first-class M.Sc. or a first-class B.E or B.tech degree along with experience of a minimum of 1 year following the completion of the qualification. Candidates who have an MS/M. Tech degree in Science Communication (Post M.Sc./B.E./B. Tech Course) are also eligible to apply for the post of Curator. In addition, candidates who have an M. Tech/M.E./M.S (Engg.)/Ph.D(Science)/Ph.D(Engg.) qualification are also eligible to apply for the post of Curator ‘B’.
In order to apply, candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs 500. Reserved categories such as SC/ST, ESM, PH, and female candidates are exempted from the payment of any application fee for either of the posts. The application fee must be deposited to the Account Number 164201000000491 bearing IFSC Code IOBA0001642 (Indian Overseas Bank). The proforma for submitting applications is appended along with the combined recruitment notification separately for each post. The applications for Secretary post must be superscribed with “Advt No. 02/2020, The Secretary, National Council of Science Museums, 33GN Block, Sector V, Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata 700091“. In addition, a soft copy of the filled up application form along with scanned documents and receipt of fee payment must also be forwarded through email to [email protected]. However applications for the post of Curator ‘B’ must be forwarded to one of the Zonal Offices (East, West, North, South) of NCSM.
