Maharashtra Minister Nitin Raut has made an announcement yesterday stating about the closure of schools for classes 1 to 8 till January 31, 2022. This announcement came after the minister announced the closure of schools in Pune and Mumbai till the end of January. The state government was compelled to take this decision after there was a rapid spike in the covid cases on Wednesday.
On January 05, 2022, a high-level meeting was chaired between the local officers of the district administration and civic body. During this meeting the officers took a close look at the current covid situation in the state and a thorough review was held. Post this assessment, the administration decided to shut down the primary schools amid the safety concerns of the students.
Other than this, top authorities of the local administration also checked the current preparedness in case they have to face a severe situation. This decision was simply communicated to the minister for further evaluation and now the orders have come to close the schools. Other than this, the state government has also decided to discontinue the classes going on in junior and senior colleges in Maharashtra citing students’ safety till February 15, 2022.
As of now, there is no news regarding the time frame during which the classes shall be resumed for classes 1 to 8. The order released by the district administrations has also stated that this decision was taken on lines of the Pune administration that has already closed the schools till January 30 amid safety concerns.
Other than this, the city administration has also decided that all the government and private office staffs are liable to produce RT PCR negative reports before going for the office. In this way, the administration can identify covid clusters if any earlier and contain the spread in a limited area.
This decision has brought joy to parents who have been worried regarding their children amid the new covid scare. At present, the city of Nagpur has reported at least 696 active Covid-19 addition to this there are 10,123 deaths linked to the infection.
