The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) cell has released the revised syllabus and marking scheme for the MHT CET 2021 entrance examination. Recently, authorities issued a public notice on the official website i.e., mahacet.org announcing the changes in the exam. MHCET 2021 examination shall be conducted in the online or computer-based format. Syllabus for the exam shall be in accordance with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary syllabus. Through this entrance, candidates can get admission to various undergraduate courses pertaining to science within Maharashtra.
MHCET 2021 examination shall comprise the whole syllabus of Class 12 for the academic year 2020-21 in all four subjects. However, certain parts of the syllabus were earlier removed by the Maharashtra Rajya Pathyapustak Nirmiti va Abhyaskram Sanshodhan Mandal. This was done to ease the burden of students during the COVID19 pandemic. The same deleted portion shall be excluded from the MHTCET 2021 syllabus as well.
The circular specifies that MHCET 2021 shall be conducted for two groups – Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM) and Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB). According to the marking scheme, 20% weightage shall be given to Class 11 Maharashtra state board syllabus and 80% weightage to Class 12 syllabus. There shall be no negative marking in the exam for wrong answers.
The level of difficulty for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects shall be at par with JEE (Main) examination. Similarly, the level of difficulty for Biology subject shall be at par with NEET examination. Furthermore, questions in the paper shall be primarily application-based.
MHCET 2021 shall consist of three question papers containing multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each paper will be of 100 marks. Paper 1 shall consist of 50 Mathematics questions – 10 from Class 11 and 40 from Class 12. Each question is allotted 2 marks in the paper. Paper 2 shall consist of 100 questions – 50 from Chemistry and 50 from Physics. Out of these 50 questions in each subject, 10 shall come from Class 11 syllabus while remaining 40 shall come from Class 12 syllabus. Each question is allotted 1 mark in paper 2. Paper 3 comprises of 100 Biology questions, out of which 20 questions will be asked from Class 11 syllabus and 80 from the syllabus of Class 12. Each question carries 1 mark in the exam. Duration of each paper will remain 90 minutes.
MHT CET 2021 is a state-level entrance examination which is most likely to be held in May 2021. The exam shall be conducted for admissions to various undergraduate courses including BE, B.Tech, B.Pharma and PharmD. Candidates seeking admission for courses related to agriculture, fisheries and dairy technology can also apply for the entrance exam.
