Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Kerala has postponed all the exams earlier scheduled to be held today, on October 22, 2019. The notification comes in the wake of now orange, and previously red alert issued in the state due to heavy rainfalls.
MGU confirms that all the exams that were supposed to take place today will now be held on a new date. New exam date and details will be available at mgu.ac.in.
Semester examination for different programs are going on the university. For many, exams of different subjects were scheduled for today. Whether the exams for upcoming dates will also be affected or not, shall be notified in other notifications, however insofar only today’s exams have been postponed.

Late last night, red alert was issued for five districts in Kerala namely Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. Red alert was also issued for four districts in Tamil Nadu, namely Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni and Dindigul.
However, now the red alert has been lifted in Kerala. Orange alert has instead been issued for Idukki. Also, yellow alerts are up for Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
Meanwhile the row on moderation marks continues in MGU. The governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, has asked the varsity VC to provide an explanation on how special moderation was given for a B.Tech student. Whereas the minister of higher education maintained, as per reports, that the practice of giving moderation marks has been a long used practice, and as many as 20 marks were given to B.Tech students in the year 2012 in University of Calicut.
MGU to publish examination calendar 2020 this year itself
In view of the judgement of high court of Kerala, the Mahatma Gandhi University will now start releasing exam calendars in the year before. This will be applicable for academic year 2020, for which, exam calendar will be released this year itself.
For the same, a notification was released by the controller of examinations, stating “I am directed to inform you that as per the judgement of the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala in the Writ Petition cited, the Examination Calendar of our University for an year shall be published in the preceding year itself. I, therefore, request you to furnish the details (Name of examinations, proposed date of commencement of examinations and the number and name of papers) regarding the examinations to be conducted in your institution during 2020 so as to enable this office to prepare the Examination Calendar for 2020 and thereby comply with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court. The details may be furnished so as to reach the same in this office on or before 05.11.2019.”
