QS World University Rankings 2020 is out. The annual rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds contain 24 Indian universities in the top 1000. The top 5 are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IISC, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur.
IITB has improved its position by 10 ranks (it was placed at 162 globally last year, and is 152 this time). IIT Kharagpur too has gained ranking by 14 positions. University of Delhi has gained 13 ranks. On one hand, the top universities in India has a new entrant, O.P. Jindal Global University, whereas on the other hand, Amity University is seen missing.
Meet all the Indian universities in QS Ranking 2020
The institutions and their overall ranking worldwide are as follows.
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) is the top most Indian institution in the list, with QS Global World Ranking #152.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) is in second position, and has world rank #182.
Indian Institute of Science, in third place, is ranked #184 in the world.
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in fourth place in India, enjoys #271 QS Global World Ranking.
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) is the fifth best institute in India, as per the ranking, and globally it is at #281.
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) comes next with QS Global World Ranking #291.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) has world ranking of #383.
University of Delhi is at #474.
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) comes next at #491.
University of Hyderabad has been placed in the QS Global World Ranking #601-650.
Jadavpur University is in the ranking bracket #651-700.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education is the first private university in the list, with QS Global World Ranking #701-750.
Anna University is at #751-800.
Jamia Millia Islamia is in the ranking range #751-800.
O.P. Jindal Global University is another private varsity, with QS Global World Ranking #751-800.
Aligarh Muslim University is placed in the ranking list in #801-1000.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) is also a private varsity, and has got the rank #801-1000.
Banaras Hindu University has QS Global World Ranking #801-1000.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is also in #801-1000.
Savitribai Phule Pune University is also among the top universities in India and has bagged the rank #801-1000.
Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, another private institute has QS Global World Ranking 801-1000.
University of Calcutta is also in #801-1000.
University of Mumbai again is in #801-1000.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), also a private university, has bagged the ranking #801-1000.

Earlier last month, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 were released, with 56 names from India. However the rankings caused quite a stir as there was not even one Indian university in the top 300.
