Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has invited online applications from poor tribal students of India or other countries belonging to below poverty line (BPL). Candidates falling under this category can apply online at kiss.ac.in. Admission to Ph.D., UG, and PG courses. The application process has started from September 22, 2020, for the UG courses, and will last till October 6, 2020. For PG and Ph.D. courses the application form will be available from October 8 to 26, 2020.
For admission, preference will be given to the tribal girl students from different parts of the country.
The UG and PG courses in which admission will be granted are UG (+3) degree in Arts, Science and Commerce, and PG degrees like MA, M.Com, and M.Sc.
The selection list of the UG candidates will be out on October 14, 2020. The same will be out for the PG candidates on October 30, 2020. All classes will commence from November 16, 2020.
For Ph.D. all applicants have to appear for a personal interview round to be held on November 12, 2020. The final selection will be announced on November 16, 2020, and classes will start from November 23, 2020.
KISS has been given the status of University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. KISS is also the first Tribal deemed to be University in India and as well as in the entire world. The University focuses on the various aspects of Tribal culture, philosophy, heritage, tribal science and technology, linguistic and literature, tribal resource management, tribal legal rights, and jurisprudence.
KISS was started as a residential tribal School in 1993. This deemed University has been ranked in the Top 10 category in India by ‘NGO Advisor’ and has been also ranked 223 among the Top 500 NGOs in the world. In August 2017, KISS became the first exclusive tribal University in the World. Presently, 30,000 tribal students are enrolled in KISS, which was started with a few 125 students.
