The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has now announced the counselling schedule for JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018 qualified candidates. The schedule is available on the official website of JoSAA 2018. As per the schedule, the counselling process will start from June 15, 2018. JoSAA will conduct a total of 7 rounds of allocation of seats for academic courses offered by the Institution under JoSAA 2018.

All candidates who have qualified in JEE Main 2018 are eligible to register for seat allocation in NITs and other participating institutes (other than IITs) of JoSAA 2018. Whereas all candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced 2018, can appear in the counselling rounds for admission to all the participating institutes.

The list of participating institutes has been also provided by JoSAA. This year as many as 100 institutes are participating in JoSAA to intake admission in various UG engineering courses. Out of these 100 institutes, there are 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and rest 23 are CFTIs.

Although the seat matrix has yet not been announced by JoSAA. According to the schedule, the JEE Main 2018 Counselling and JEE Advanced 2018 counselling will start from June 15, 2018, and will last until July 19, 2018. There will be 7 rounds of counselling in all.

JoSAA 2018 Schedule

The counselling and seat allotment for JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018 qualifying candidates will be done online. JoSAA is in charge of the entire counselling process. The process starts with online registration, thereafter online choice filling and locking of the choices are done by the candidates. The seat is then allotted provisionally according to the availability of seats and ranks. Candidates then have to report for document verification in person at the reporting centers.

This year as many as 11,48,000 candidates have registered for JEE Main 2018. Out of which 10,74,319 candidates had appeared in the examination and 2,31,024 candidates had qualified for JEE Advanced 2018. The result of JEE Advanced 2018 examination will be announced on June 10, 2018. Thereafter the qualifying candidates will have to participate in the JoSAA 2018 Counselling to get admission in one of the IITs. The result of JEE Main 2018 for Paper 1 was declared on April 30 and for Paper 2, it was declared on May 30, 2018.

Although this year there was a bit of a speculation regarding CSAB to conduct JEE Main 2018 Counselling. But after the release of counselling schedule by JoSAA, it is confirmed that JEE Main 2018 Counselling, as well as JEE Advanced 2018 Counselling, will be done under the supervision of JoSAA.

However, in the coming years, National Testing Agency (NTA) may be the conducting body of JEE Main. Thus whether or not the counselling body will change for the same is yet not clear. JEE Advanced will be under the control of one of the IITs. Change in conducting body if JEE Advanced in coming years will not be seen. Although, same is not the case for JEE Main. The entire process may change with a new conducting body in action. Until further notice, the situation right now is quite unclear.
