Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) shall declare the results of its PG medical (MD/MS) entrance exam result held for the January 2020 admission session tomorrow, at jipmer.edu.in. As per the information brochure the result date is on or before December 18, 2019. However the institute is known to make the result announcement on, rather than before, when it comes to the MD / MS entrance exam. The exam was held successfully last week, on December 8, 2019.
Minimum qualifying marks in the exam are 50% for SC, ST candidates, and 55% for all others. Among those who get qualifying marks, a merit list is drawn, and cut off is fixed to call a limited number of candidates only for the certificate verification and counselling process.
Cut off refers to the last rank of candidates called for counselling. This is provided officially by JIPMER in the result notice on counselling. For the 2020 January session cut offs will become known tomorrow when the result is announced.
Last year that is in 2019, the cut offs were: UR – 310, OBC – 270, SC – 150, ST – 75, institute candidates – 190, PWD OPH – 7. For these categories, the reserved seats were respectively 31, 27, 15, 8, 19, 5.
In 2018, the cut offs were: UR – 350, OBC – 290, SC – 160, ST – 70, institute candidates – 187, PWD OPH – 2. That year the category wise seats were respectively 35, 29, 16, 8, 21, none.
Last to last year that is in 2017, the cut offs were: UR – 370, OBC – 280, SC – 160, ST – 80, institute candidates – 136, PWD OPH – 5. In that year the reserved seats were respectively 37, 28, 16, 8, 20, 3.
The institute will publish tomorrow, separate merit lists for each category. Those lists will have roll number, name, date of birth, correct responses, negative responses, total marks, percentile, overall rank and category rank. However said list will only contain details of those candidates who will be shortlisted for counselling. There will however be an overall merit list also.
Counselling for choosing the discipline will start on December 26, 2019; this first day of counselling will be for OPH, foreign nationals, sponsored candidates. Then first counselling will be for all those who have been shortlisted for the same, on December 27, 2019.
Second, third, and final counselling dates are January 8, 2020, February 5, 2020, and February 26, 2020 respectively. Admission formalities like medical board and submission of receipt for fee payment will be on December 30, 2019.
Admission letter and letter for hostel accommodation will be released on December 31, 2019. Course commencement date is January 1, 2020. Close of admissions for MD/MS January 2020 session is February 29, 2020.
