After postponing the April session of the JEE Main 2021, the National Testing Agency has now postponed the May 2021 session exams as well. Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has updated the official postponement notice on his Twitter account. The notice clearly says that the JEE Main 2021 exams scheduled to be held from May 24 to 28, 2021 have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is the national level examination for admission to graduate technology courses viz. B.Tech as well as for B.Arch and B.Plan courses. The examination have been conventionally conducted twice a year although in 2021, the NTA is conducting the exam in four sessions.

The notice reads keeping the present situation in mind, the JEE Main 2021 May session is also being postponed. The examination was scheduled to be held on May 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2021. Earlier, the NTA officially postponed the April 2021 session exam due to the COVID-19 situation in India. Now with the announcement by the Education Minister himself, it is confirmed that the JEE Main 2021 May session exam has also been postponed. Aspiring candidates can expect the official postponement notice to be updated on the NTA website jeemain.nta.nic.in soon.

The JEE Main 2021 May session postponement notice also reads the rescheduling of the April and May sessions will be done subsequently. The registrations for the May session will also be announced at a later stage.

NTA has already conducted the first two sessions of the JEE Main 2021 successfully this year amidst the COVID-19 situation. More than 6 lakh candidates and more than 5 lakh candidates took the test in the February 2021 and March 2021 sessions respectively. Now the April 2021 and May 2021 session exams are pending. The NTA is conducting the exam in multiple sessions this year in a bid to support the student community. Candidates can appear in only one session or all of the sessions and apply for admission on the basis of the best score.

It is not clear as to when the JEE Main 2021 April and May session exams are going to be conducted now. One can expect the NTA to be able to take a decision only after the current pandemic situation normalizes to some extent. Candidates can expect the Agency to reschedule both the examinations accordingly and announce fresh dates on the official website.

In the mean time, the NTA has urged registered candidates to utilise the time for preparations for the JEE Main 2021 exam. Candidates can contact the NTA at 011-40759000 or [email protected] for queries about the exam.
