JEE Main 2019 Updates

NTA has confirmed that it is conducting JEE Main 2019 twice a year, as computer based tests. The exam will be held in multiple sessions in the months of January and April. There has been some change in the exam date and new dates are now available. For the JEE Main 1, registrations are starting on September 1, 2018.

Candidates can choose to appear in either JEE Main 1 or JEE Main 2, or appear in both exams. However, application form for both exams are separate. Therefore those who wish to appear for the engineering entrance exam in January should apply between September 1 to 30, 2018. Whereas those who want to appear for the exam in April should apply between February 8 to March 7, 2019.

The first Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2019 will be held from January 6 to 20, 2019. Thereafter the second exam is from April 6 to 20, 2019. JEE Main 2019 application form, admit card, result for both exams will be done and announced separately by NTA.

At this point, thus, engineering aspirants need to take a call whether they wish to sit for the January exam or April exam. Only a week is left to go for the online applications of first exam to commence. If one wishes to take the first exam, then they should apply and pay fee at official website of NTA, before the last date. The official website of National Testing Agency is nta.ac.in.

As only 10 days are left for the registrations to start, so candidates are advised to make ready the relevant documents to fill the application form. Among all the documents, the aadhar card is the most important one.

In a press conference, Prakash Javadkar had assured the students that there will be no hike in the application fee. So, on the basis of the last year, the students will have to pay the fee such as 500 rs. for boys and 250 rs. for girls. Those who will appear in both papers, paper 1 for engineering and paper 2 for architecture, will have to pay fee to the tune of Rs 1300 for boys and Rs 650 for girls.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) used to conduct the Joint Entrance Exams once a year in the month of April, until last year. Now, JEE Main exam will be held twice a year.

CBSE used to conduct JEE Main in offline as well as in online mode. The candidates were free to choose their way to give the exam. But now there will be no option, all will have to sit for the online exam.

There are certain myths about the online computer-based test that internet speed or the electricity may affect the exam. But NTA has made it clear that CBTs are independent of the internet connection as it will be conducted using the LANs. So, there will be no such interruption. If the candidates have the doubts about the power failure then they may note that JEE Main 2019 will be conducted with power backup. If such a problem would occur then the test centres will have the solution too.

NTA has however changed a lot of things in NEET UG 2019, which is the medical entrance exam. It will hold NEET exam in offline mode and once a year only. It is important to note here that this change does not affect JEE aspirants. JEE Main 2019, it has been confirmed, will be held as computer based test in online mode.
