The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test or JNVST 2021 for Class 6 is going to be held on August 11, 2021. With two days due for the test, students are now gearing up for their last-minute preparation and revision. The JNVST is probably one of the first entrance tests in a student’s life and hence, they might find it quite overwhelming. As a result, it becomes the parents’ job to make their wards understand the nitty-gritty of the test.
As a part of the preparation strategy, parents must make their children aware of the examination pattern. The entire test will be of a duration of three hours in which the students have to attempt questions from mental ability, arithmetic and language. But, only knowing the examination pattern is not enough. Guardians must familiarize the kids with the previous year question papers. Moreover, the student must be taught to solve them within two hours. This will help the parents to keep a track of the time taken for each paper and also give a morale boost to the children.
Importantly, parents must ensure that the children have a clear idea of the topics that are necessary for the test. In fact, they must try to clear away the existing doubts, if the kids have any. Students must also be taught to first attempt the easier questions and then switch to the tougher ones. Questions from ‘Rate of Interest’ in the arithmetic paper have always bothered the students. Hence, if possible, the parents must brush the knowledge of their ward, related to this topic. At this point of time, the students must be made to revise the mathematical formulas time and again. To excel in the mental ability questions, the parents must focus on their wards’ logical thinking abilities.
Parents can also engage their wards in solving the mock tests and practice papers. When children take part in more mock tests, they remain comfortable during the examination and perform better. This preparation phase of their wards has not been easy for the parents. It is quite natural to worry about their wards’ performance. Nevertheless, parents must make sure that they remain supportive till the examination day and keep their wards motivated throughout.
Moreover, parents must see to it that their children eat healthily and take proper rest between the study sessions. The study space should also remain clean. This will help the students to concentrate better. If there is any sort of distraction, then the parents should keep them at bay. Also, it is important that the students are completely fit on the examination day. The best way to ensure that is to sleep on time and stay clear-headed.
