Due to the rising COVID-19 cases, Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has postponed the practical exams for class 10th and 12th. The practical exams started on April 6, 2021, however, keeping safety of the students at priority the council decided to postpone rest of the exams. The exams have been postponed with immediate effect.
The announcement was made via an official notice on the official website jac.jharkhand.gov.in. The notice reads “कोविद-१९ से उत्पन्न परिस्थितियों के मद्देनजर वर्ष २०२१ की कक्षा १० एवं १२ की सभी प्रायोगिक परीक्षाएं तत्काल प्रभाव से स्थगित की जाती है। इस सम्बन्ध में अगली सूचना बाद में प्रकाशित की जाएगी।” or “In view of the circumstances arising out of COVID-19, all the practical examinations of class 10 and 12 of the year 2021 are postponed with immediate effect. Further information in this regard will be published later.”
For now, there is no update on the board exams. Jharkhand Board class 10 and 12 are to start from May 4, 2021. The exams for Jharkhand academic Council for class 10th and 12th will be conducted in two shifts—the first one will be for class 10th students and the second shift will be allotted to the Class 12 students.
If the theory exam will be postponed or not is unclear right now. Admit card has been already issued to the students of classes 10 and 12 to appear in the exam on March 30, 2021, and April 3, 2021, respectively. Also, the board had earlier reduced its syllabus by 40 percent. Despite this, JAC might cancel the exam if the situation in the state does not stabilise.
The state is currently facing 2000+ active cases of COVID-19. It is highly likely that the theory exam can be postponed, as the pandemic is at its worst in the nation. CBSE has cancelled class 10 boards and has postponed the class 12 boards till further notice.
The same measure has been taken by the Telangana government. They have cancelled SSC and Intermediate 1st year examinations. The state has also decided to postpone Inter 2nd year exams. Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE), has cancelled HBSE 10th Board exams 2021 and has postponed class 12 exams.
The state of Odisha has also decided to postpone class 10th and 12th board exams. Gujarat Government has announced that the Gujarat Boards Exam 2021 for Class 10 and Class 12 to be postponed until further notice. Himachal Pradesh Board has also decided to postpone the Board examination of Class 10th and 12th.
Soon after CBSE announced its decision to cancel class 10th boards and postpone class 12 boards, all states have followed a similar path.
