IIM CAP 2019-21 Shortlist Released; 6 New and 4 Baby IIMs Participating in CAP

IIM CAP 2019-21 Shortlist Released

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has released the shortlist for Common Admission Process 2019-21. This year, IIM Ranchi is conducting CAP on behalf of 6 New and 4 Baby IIMs. CAT 2018 test takers can check the admission status for Written Analysis Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) at cap2019.iimranchi.ac.in/userlogin. Candidates need to provide CAT registration number, date of birth, and registered email-id to check if they are shortlisted for the next round.

For the CAP this year, 10 IIMs are collaboratively conducting the admission process. The 6 new IIMs naming Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Udaipur, Rohtak, Trichy and 4 Baby IIMs naming Bodh Gaya, Jammu, Sambalpur, Sirmaur are participating. Last year, there were 9 IIMs, IIM Jammu has been added in the list this year.

IIM Ranchi has released the shortlist after combining the list of selected students provided by 10 participating IIMs. Last year, a list of 12790 selected candidates was released by IIM Rohtak. This year, the exact figure is yet not released but it may cross 14000 for admission 2019-21.

Candidates shortlisted for CAP have to appear for common WAT and PI round. On the basis of the performance, IIMs will release the final list. Although it is CAP, still each IIMs follow their own selection process. So, after analyzing the candidates’ performance in WAT, PI, academics, CAT, work experience etc. IIMs will publish individual merit list to offer final admission.

IIM CAP 2019-21 Shortlist Process

For the CAP, candidates have to reach the venue as allocated to them. In case, candidates’ interview date is clashing with other interviews, then send the request for a change to IIM Ranchi before the last date. Also, it is important to appear in the CAP for admission 2019-21, scores of older IIMs are not considered while evaluation. The CAP will take place in Kolkata, Mumbai, New-Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai.

As per the IIM Ranchi selection process, the cut-off for the shortlisting is 95, 78, 60, 40, 40 for General, NC- OBC, SC, ST, and DAP respectively. It is only the indicative cut-off, the actual call for the admission process also depends on candidates profile. After the completion of the CAP, candidates will receive the offer letter for the final admission.

The final merit list is prepared on the basis of CAT 2018 score, WAT, PI, and a profile having a weight-age of 30%, 10%, 30%, and 30% respectively. Even there is cut-off for the PI round, candidates must get a minimum of 15 marks out of 50 to be considered for the further selection. Profile scoring (30 marks) includes academic profile, work experience, diversity, academic having weight-age of 15, 5, 5, and 5 respectively.

Previously IIMs naming Ahmedabad, Banglore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore, Shillong has already released the shortlist status. IIM Amritsar, Nagpur, Visakhapatnam will release the admission status soon.
