Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has collaborated with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) to offer 150 Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The fellowship are awarded on the basis of entrance test that is scheduled to be held on July 12, 2020, Sunday. Mode of the entrance test is online, i.e Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates who have Master’s degree can apply online by visiting the official website of ICMR, i.e icmr.nic.in, and of PGIMER, i.e pgimer.edu.in. Link to apply online will get activated on the official websites on April 27, 2020. The last date to fill the form is May 27, 2020.
The exam is going to be held at Bhopal, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Delhi (NCR), Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Srinagar (J&K), Varanasi and Mumbai. Out of 150 fellowships,120 are reserved for the Biomedical Sciences and remaining 30 are for Social Sciences. Seat reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), SC, ST and OBC is given as per the rules laid down by the Government of India. Check the official notice, issued by ICMR for JRF 2020, below:
When it comes to the eligibility, then only the Indian nationals who have completed their MSc/M.A can apply for the ICMR JRF 2020 exam. For the candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC category, it is mandatory to score 55% marks in Masters, whereas, for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and PwBD categories, 50% marks are mandatory. Those candidates who are in the final year of the session 2019-2020 are also eligible to apply.
As far as the age limit is concerned, the candidate should not be more than 28 years of age, while applying for the exam. Age relaxation of 05 years is given to the female candidates and also to those who are from the SC/ST and PwBD categories. Aspirants belonging to the OBC category also get the age relaxation of 03 years.
Information brochure and link to apply online for ICMR JRF 2020, will get activated on the official website of ICMR and PGIMER, Chandigarh on April 27, 2020. Application fee for General/EWS/OBC is Rs.1500/-, SC/ST has to pay the amount of Rs. 1200, whereas the candidates belonging to PwBD category are exempted from the payment of the application fee. Transaction charges will also be implied on the amount of application fee, as applicable.
