Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (HPBOSE) has announced that all students of classes 1st to 9th and 11th will be promoted to the next standard without holding any examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The decision to promote students was taken by the HP Government on April 7, 2021. The notification states that all the schools affiliated with HPBOSE will be promoting students 1st to 9th and 11th class without holding the examinations. In the notice, it was also confirmed that since the students are no results being promoted directly, hence, no result will be announced.
Students who could not take the exams of classes 9 and 11, in the past, will not be promoted. Such students will be given the opportunity to take the exams again, however after about two months. The promotion of these students to the next class will be done based on their exam results. Whereas, the students of first to eighth grade will be promoted to the next class without holding any exams. Students of these classes will not be failed under the Right to Education Act.
Though the decision of canceling examinations for all classes has come as a major relief for many, however, the students of class 10th and 12th will need to appear for the exam as per the schedule earlier released. Students who are currently in their board classes were expecting that the board shall consider postponing the exams as the number of coronavirus cases has been at the peak lately. However, HPBOSE is staying firm on conducting the class 10, 12 exams as per the schedule.
Earlier, HPBOSE released the revised schedule for class 10th and class 12th online at its official website, hpbose.org. As per the revised timetable, HPBOSE 10th exams are going to be held between April 13 to 26, 2021, and class 12th will be from April 13 to May 10, 2021. Until any official announcement is made by the board, students should prepare for the examinations and not believe in any kind of rumor.
