In a first, there will be a common pre board exam in Himachal Pradesh. The HP State Council of Educational Research and Training has published date sheet for class 10 and 12 pre board examinations at himachalservices.nic.in. Schools in the state will hold exams as per the same.
For both classes, pre board exams will start on December 7, 2019. However for class 10, it will end on December 18, 2019, and for class 12, the last date is December 21, 2019.
The class 10 exam dates are like this. English paper is on December 7, 2019. Mathematics is on December 10, 2019. Then on December 12, 2019, social science exam will be held. On December 14, 2019, science and technology paper is due. Hindi exam is on December 16, 2019. The very next day, December 17, 2019, is for sanskrit, urdu, punjabi. The last date December 18, 2019 is reserved for sixteen subject papers. Drawing A, home science, commerce, economics, computer science, automobiles, security, retail, health care, information technology enabled services, agriculture, travel and tourism, telecom, physical education, BFS, media and entertainment are on that day.
Class 12 exams will, on some days, be held in morning and afternoon sessions. On December 7, 2019, political science and accountancy exams are scheduled. Then hindi, business studies exams are on December 9, 2019. In the morning session of December 10, 2019 will be music, hindustani instrumental percussion, dance, fine arts. And on the same day in evening session will be the human ecology and family science exam.
English paper is on December 11, 2019. Public administration, psychology, philosophy will be on December 12, 2019. Then on December 13, 2019 are papers of physics, history. Geography is on December 14, 2019. Mathematics is then on December 16, 2019.
Both biology as well as sociology papers are on December 17, 2019. French, urdu, sanskrit papers are on December 18, 2019. On December 19, 2019 are the papers of chemistry, economics. Computer science IP, physical education, yoga are on December 20, 2019. The last exam date is December 21, 2019. In the morning session there will be the paper for financial literacy. In the evening session, there will be eight papers namely automobile, health care, security, retail, agriculture, travel and tourism, telecom, information technology enabled services.
SCERT will create and issue question papers for most of the subjects. However the subjects against which * is marked in the date sheet, question papers for those will not be provided by SCERT but will have to be compiled by the school. Schools were also given time until November 16, 2019, to report clashes in dates.
Besides publishing the exam dates, SCERT Solan has also published two separate notifications on syllabus to be used for pre board exams. As per them, 80% of the total syllabus will come in exam. Exact chapters and topics have also been mentioned.
Board exams in Himachal Pradesh will be held in February or March 2020. Date sheets for class 10 and 12 students are expected soon, by end of this month or next month. Last year 60.79% students passed in class 10 in HP Board, and 62.01% passed in class 12. By holding board organized pre-board exams, the state aims at improving its pass percentage this year.
