Exam Pattern
The entire pattern of the Biotechnology (BT) paper was objective-type based. The questions in the exam paper included Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Candidates were given a duration of 03 hours to complete the test.
The questions are mainly set to test the candidates’ recall, comprehension, application, analysis and synthesis skills. The question paper carried a total of 65 questions. However, these questions are further divided into 10 from General Aptitude (GA) and 55 from Biotechnology (BT). The marks distribution is such that 15 marks are from GA while 85 are from the subject itself. As a result, the total marks of the question paper is 100.
It must be noted that there will be negative marking in the GATE 2022 exam. For every 01 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted. Similarly, for every 02 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks from the question will be deducted.
