The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has concluded the first day of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022. There were two shifts over which the examination was held. In the second shift, the examination for the Mathematics (MA) paper was conducted. The afternoon session of today’s exam was scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
GATE 2022 Electrical Engineering exam is being held in a fully computer-based test (CBT) mode. The question paper for MA followed an objective-type pattern. So far, the unofficial answer keys have been released which the candidates can get from this page.
How to check?
Soon after the conclusion of the exam, several coaching centres and educators have started coming up with the question paper discussions on YouTube. Although unofficial, these answer keys can still help the candidates to analyze their performance and calculate a tentative score. To check the same, here are the steps that one can follow.
Step 1- Visit YouTube and Telegram.
Step 2- Type ‘GATE 2022 Mathematics answer key’ on the search box.
Step 3- A list of videos will appear.
Step 4- Go through the question paper solutions and calculate a tentative score.
At this, it is uncertain whether PDF versions of the answer keys will be available or not since the examination is held in a CBT mode. Despite that, here are the direct links using which one can check the unofficial answer keys from YouTube.

GATE 2022 Mathematics Exam Pattern
The overall pattern of the test papers including Mathematics for GATE 2022 is objective-type based. As per the official information bulletin, the pattern of questions also includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. A duration of 03 hours was given to the candidates for completing the exam.
This Aptitude examination mainly tested the candidate’s recall, comprehension, application, analysis and synthesis skills. There were a total of 65 questions Mathematics question paper. Moreover, these questions were again divided into 10 from General Aptitude (GA) and 55 from the subject itself. Similarly, the marks distribution is divided as per the criteria detailed below.
- GA – 15 marks
- Mathematics – 85 marks
The total marks of the question paper is 100. However, there is also negative marking for incorrect questions. For every 01 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted and for every 02 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted from the question.
