The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Geology and Geophysics (GG), 2022 exam was conducted today, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is expected that the provisional answer keys will be released in the third week of February, by the IIT Kharagpur at gate.iitkgp.ac.in. The unofficial answer keys released by many coaching institutes are available online on Youtube and Telegram. Candidates can check these sources to get a rough idea of their scores.
GATE 2022 GG Answer Key with Solutions
First-time exam takers expressed that the paper was fairly tough, and added that it was basically due to inexperience. Other candidates said that the questions from the aptitude section were challenging and marked the paper “fairly moderate” overall. Most questions were from Earth and Planetary systems, one candidate added.

Question Paper Pattern
The Geology and Geophysics (GG) paper had 2 sections- General Aptitude (GA) and GG subject paper sections. The GA section consists of 10 questions with a total of 15 marks. The GG subject section contains 55 questions from 2 parts- Geology and Geophysics. The GG section carries a total of 85 marks. 1 mark Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carry a negative marking of 1/3 and 2 mark MCQs have a negative marking of 2/3. Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions do not have any negative marking. The GG exam was conducted for a total duration of 3 hours.
