Update: The new date on which GATE 2022 admit card will be released has also been updated in the important dates section of gate.iitkgp.ac.in. It says January 7, 2022 is the date from which GATE 2022 admit card will be available for download. Earlier, the new date was flashed only under the online application box.
IIT Kharagpur has delayed the release of GATE 2022 admit card. The admit card will now be released on January 7, 2022. The admit card was supposed to be released today, on January 3, 2022.
It may be noted that the exam date has not been postponed. The exam Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is still scheduled to be held on February 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2022.
The new release date has been conveyed via a small notice at the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in. Under the GATE 2022 online application section, a short notice says “Candidates can download Admit Card from January 07, 2022“.

IIT KGP, the organizing body of GATE 2022, has not released any separate notification or announcement. However, they have simply run a small text on the website conveying the new release date. You can see the notice below.
The notice has quietly stated the delay in the issuance of the GATE 2022 admit card. The institute has, however, provided no reason for this delay. Now that the admit card date has been revised, applicants must take note of the steps to download once the link is finally activated on the official site.
How to Download GATE 2022 Admit Card
Step 1: Head over to gate.iitkgp.ac.in
Step 2: On the right-hand side module, the notice stating admit card has been released will be displayed.
Step 3: All candidates would then be required to log in to the GATE portal using their credentials – log in ID and password.
Step 4: Once in, candidates will find the admit card link activated. Upon clicking on it, the admit card would be displayed in a printable format.
Step 5: Candidates must download and take the printout of the admit card as it would be mandatorily required to avail entry to the exam hall.
GATE 2022 Admit Card Delay – First time in history!
This is for the first time that GATE admit card has been delayed. Until two years ago, the admit card of the GATE exam used to be released a day in advance i.e. day before the official release date. Last year, the hall ticket was published on the release date mentioned in the brochure. This is for the first time that the hall ticket has been delayed.
Will GATE 2022 exam date be postponed?
There are speculations that GATE 2022 exam will be canceled or postponed. However, until now they are only rumors. It is to be noted that IIT KGP did cancel the GATE 2022 exam in two cities – Sonepat and Panipat. However here the centers were canceled as these were the places where computer-based tests were reportedly hacked during the JEE Mains exam. This does not imply cancellation or postponement of the exam anywhere else.
