Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) published the result of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) recruitment 2019 main exam today. A total of 240 candidates have been provisionally selected for recruitment to the advertised post. Whereas the vacancies were initially 280, the number has now been reduced to 240.
The mains exam was held on November 7, 2019. Candidates who had been shortlisted for it on the basis of their prelims results had been called for the mains exam. Assistant or Assistant Section Officer post in EPFO lies in level 7 of pay matrix (civilian employees) under the 7th pay commission, with entry pay Rs. 44,900/-.
To check the result, candidates need to go to epfindia.gov.in > Miscellaneous > Recruitment > Final result of the Direct Recruitment Examination (main examination held on 07.11.2019) to the post of Assistants (Assistant Section Officer) in EPFO. The pdf file contains roll numbers, registration numbers, names of all qualified candidates.
EPFO set minimum qualifying marks in each of the five sections in paper as 40% for UR, EWS, and 35% for SC, ST, PWBD, OBC. Thus, for sections T1 (Reasoning / Intelligence), T2 (General / Economy / Financial Awareness), T3 (English Language), T4 (Quantitative Aptitude), T5 (Descriptive Paper), and in total, the minimum qualifying marks for UR and EWS are 24, 16, 16, 24, 12, 92 respectively. Whereas for SC, ST, OBC, PWBD, the minimum qualifying marks for the same sections are 21, 14, 14, 21, 10.5, 80.5.
Category wise cut off out of 230 are 184.17 for UR, 175.09 for EWS, 176.43 for OBC, 145.21 for ST, and 160.76 for SC.
Of the 240 candidates provisionally selected, 99 are from unreserved category 23 are EWS, 64 are OBC, 18 are ST, and 36 are SC.
In the case of a tie, candidates older in age have been given higher merit, and if tie persisted, then alphabetical order in which names of candidates appear was considered.

The result notification says “. Since the applications for the above post were called online only and hard copy of application along with documents in support of their eligibility for the post was not called from the candidates, the candidature of all the candidates is purely provisional subject of fulfillment of eligibility criteria with regard to age, essential qualification and reservation etc. The selected candidates must submit all documents in original in support of their eligibility for the above post at the time of joining. If at any stage (even after appointment) it is found that the candidate is not fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the post or has appeared in the Phase-I and Phase-II examinations in violation of the instructions or has submitted false declaration / certificates, his/her candidature shall be summarily rejected. ”
