SoSE Exam Pattern
The SoSE entrance exams are multiple-choice objective tests conducted over three hours. The qualifying students become eligible for admission to Classes 9 and 11 to 31 SoSEs across the country. The students can choose from the 5 different domains of specialization and appear for their respective exams. SoSE offers admission to class 9 in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics for Class, High-end 21st Century Skill, Performing and Visual Arts, Armed forces preparatory school and Humanities. Students can apply to Class 11 in the domain Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and Armed forces preparatory school.
The exam assesses the candidate on various abilities with respect to the choice of specialization. The SoSE test for STEM evaluates a student’s mental ability, mathematics, and science. Whereas the SOSE Humanities paper covers the reading comprehension section, Data interpretation, logical reasoning, analytical essay writing, and social science. The students who seek admission in Performing and Visual Arts will have to appear for two stages of evaluations, the first part being the objective test based on literacy, numeracy, and logical reasoning followed by a round of Portfolio submission/ audition and interview.
The admission is also conducted in two stages, stage I involves the aptitude test based on verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, and logical reasoning, and stage II – project and interview. The armed preparatory schools have a slightly more rigorous process of selection which includes an aptitude test that assesses mathematics, English, general ability of the candidates, followed by an interview concluding with medical screening.
The candidates are required to be residents of Delhi who are students of any government or government-aided, or other recognized schools in the state to be eligible.
