Even in these difficult times, students across the nation have their eyes set on Delhi University admission 2020. Every year, between 2 to 3 lakh candidates apply for DU, in hopes to get admission in some of the best colleges of India. The registration starts in the 1st week of June, after the announcement of CBSE and state board class 12th result. However, due to the fatal outbreak of COVID-19, the board exams have been postponed and the announcement of result remains uncertain.
CBSE, ICSE, and most of the state boards were on the verge of concluding the exams when the disease put a stop to it. Initially, the central boards informed that the revised dates for the postponed exams will be announced on March 31, 2020. However, with every new case of corona in the country the uncertainty over the situation is increasing because of which the boards are unable to determine new dates.
“With regard to rescheduling board examinations for classes 10 and 12, it is informed that at this stage it is difficult for the Board to decide and announce the new schedule for examination.”
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the recent press release.
Looking at the scenario, the chances of the board exams to be held in the month of April are slim. The number of identified corona virus cases in the country has crossed figure of 3000 and in past 24 hours, more than 500 cases have been reported. The fast pace multiplying of the virus has even forced MHRD and exam conducting bodied like NTA to shift national level entrance exams at the end of May 2020.
Major medical institutes like AIIMS and NIMHANS, which are battling COVID on the front line, have also postponed its entrance exams that were to take place in April / May. Hence, it seems that the school board exams might also be postponed towards the end of May, pushing back the admission process for DU.
Why DU Admission Cannot Starts Until 12th Result is out?
For admission in most of the courses, Delhi University determines cut off. It is the minimum marks which the candidates must have secured in class 12th. Until the school board result is announced, neither the university can determine the cut off nor the students can be sure of which college or stream to opt for.
DUET 2020 Registration Delayed Due to COVID-19
Other than the merit based admission, DU also allocates seats on the basis of DUET. This year, the application form DUET were to be available from April 02, 2020. However, due to lockdown, the university is closed until April 14, 2020. Hence, the application process for DUET is also on hold for now.
The upheaval brought by COVID-19 has impacted every unit. Since there is no cure for it only the way out is social distancing. It is important for all to every to do the same and minimize the impact of the virus. Stay home, stay safe!.
