University Grants Commission (UGC) very recently, issued a public notice, announcing important details about the CUET 2022 examination. The public notice was issued through the online mode, on the official website nta.ac.in. Accordingly, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 will be organised in 13 different languages. Furthermore, the online application process to register will begin from first week of April 2022.
The CUET 2022 examination is the first-ever dedicated entrance test for admission to central universities. As per official information, the test is likely to be held in the first week of July 2022. However, an official schedule for registration and exam conduction is yet to be announced.
Exam to be held by NTA
As per the official notice, National Testing Agnecy (NTA) has been chosen as the conducting body for the first-ever session of CUET 2022. So, all information relevant to the exam will be updated on NTA’s official website nta.ac.in. So, interested and eligible candidates wishing to apply for the upcoming UG and PG entrance exam must visit the official portal for any latest announcement about information brochure, exam date or application form.
The official notice also clarifies the involvement of a large number of central universities. Although the exact figure hasn’t been specified, UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has disclosed the number. Accordingly, as many as 45 central universities will be using CUET 2022 scores to admit students for various UG/PG courses. Each state, deemed and private university also has the choice of using this entrance test for granting admission to qualified candidates.
Paper available in 13 distinct languages
As reiterated in the public notice, CUET 2022 examination will be held in 13 distinct languages. These are – Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Urdu, Kannada, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, Odia and English.
Official sources also confirm that the CUET 2022 examination will be conducted in the computer-based format, at selected centres across the country. However, the exact paper pattern along with syllabus and marking scheme, will be disclosed in the days to come.
Exam in July first week 2022
The public notice only makes a mention of the CUET 2022 application process. Accordingly, registration is expected to begin in the first week of April 2022. It will be held through the online mode with the application form made available on nta.ac.in. Candidates shall be expected to fill and submit the online form, within the stipulated time.
Although the notice does not provide any clarity on CUET 2022 exam date, the chairman did specify a crucial detail. The mandatory admission test shall be organised in the first week of July 2022. In case of UG courses, admission will be solely based on performance in this test, without giving any weightage to Class 12 marks. At best, these marks shall be used as an eligibility criterion to apply.
