Odisha government has announced that the students of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be promoted to the next standard without holding the examinations. With the notice released by the Education Department, it has been confirmed that Odisha Board class 10th exams 2021 have been cancelled which were scheduled to commence from May 3, 2021. Further, along with it, the board has also explained the passing criteria for the students from these classes.
As per the notification released, “students who are currently studying in class IX and XI (academic year 2020-21) are promoted to the next standard, i.e class X and XII respectively and they would not have to sit in for any examination for getting class promotion.” However, the passing criteria for the class 10th students from this.
Odisha board will declare the class 10th result 2021 based on the objective criterion to be decided later on by the board. Since, the board could not conduct any exam for the class 10th students, hence, criterion based on which students shall be promoted to the next standard may include internal assessment. Furthermore, students who are not satisfied with their class 10th marks based on the criterion will get an opportunity to sit in the examination as and when the situation is conductive to hold the examination.
The decision of Odisha Board to cancel to the class 10th exams and announce the result based on the ‘objective-criterion’ is very much similar to that of CBSE. Hence, students can expect that the Odisha Board 10th result 2021 shall be announced based on the criterion as decided by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The state government has been continuously assessing the situation that has been caused due to COVID-19 and is working non-stop to lessen the anxiety of students, their parents and schools. The same has also been mentioned in the official notification released by the Government.
As earlier announced, the Odisha Board class 12th examinations stand postponed which was scheduled to be held from May 18, 2021. It is being notified to the students that the exams will be held once the pandemic situation improves. The situation will be reviewed in the first week of June 2021 by the State Government and CHSE for the conduct of examination. The notification regarding the revised Class 12th exam date will be given to the students at least 15 days before the start of the exam.
