After Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that CBSE 10th exams are canceled and class 12th exams are postponed, social media is flooded with the student’s request for other boards to cancel the upcoming exams owing to the unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has notified the students that it will soon take a decision regarding ICSE and ISC exams 2021.

As per the latest notice released by CISCE on its official website, cisce.org, it has been specified that “Due to COVID situation, CISCE will take a decision regarding ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) Year 2021 Examinations and will inform all concerned at the earliest.”

According to the media reports, it is expected that the CISCE board might make a decision in line with the CBSE board examinations 2021 as CISCE exams were also supposed to start on May 4. Hence, the students may expect the class 10 exams might get canceled while; class 12 exams may get postponed. The Council has already conducted the practical exam for ISC on April 8 and 9.

The theory exams for class 12 are scheduled to be held from May 4, 2021, with English-Paper 2, and continue till June 18, 2021, with a Business Studies paper. On the other hand, ICSE (Class Xth) exams are scheduled to start from May 4 with Economics and continue till June 7 with Group-III Elective papers.

If the CISCE board postpones the examination, the date for class 10th and 12th result declaration will also be pushed further. As per the schedule released earlier, the exams were being held in May and the result for the same will be prepared and announced in June 2021. However, now that it is expected that the CISCE shall follow the lead same as CBSE, the revised exam dates will be announced in June after reviewing the current COVID situation.

Earlier today, in a meeting of the Education Minister and top officers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi it was concluded that the current situations are not conclusive for conducting the board examinations. Hence, it has been decided to cancel CBSE 10th board exams and postpone the class 12th examinations which were scheduled to start from May 4. It has been notified that CBSE 10th result will be prepared based on ‘objective criteria’ and a decision on new dates for CBSE class 12 will be taken on June 1 adding that students will have at least 15 days’ notice before the exams.
