CBSE Term Wise Syllabus 2021-22

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently released the term wise syllabus for the board exams to be held for the academic year 2021-22. This revised curriculum, pertaining to secondary and senior secondary education has been uploaded on the official website cbseacademic.nic.in. Similarly, board authorities have also issued fresh guidelines for conducting internal assessments, projects and practical exams for the upcoming academic year. This new curriculum is in tandem with the circular issued by CBSE earlier this month. This circular published on July 05, 2021, reaffirmed that the board has been compelled to look at fresh learning objectives to tackle the problems of virtual learning.

Speaking about the revised curriculum, CBSE stated that the revised syllabus for two terms has been formulated for Classes 9 to 12. The circular has been issued just to notify affiliated schools and students about the revised curriculum. Invariably, the procedure and guidelines to conduct internal assessments have also undergone several changes. Official document enclosing these changes has been uploaded on the official website cbseacademic.nic.in.

CBSE on its official academic websites has uploaded the revised syllabus under two options – “Curriculum 2021-22” and “Term wise Curriculum 2021-22”.  Both these options are present under the ‘Curriculum’ section of the website. In the term wise curriculum section, CBSE has uploaded four important documents – 1. Term wise Secondary Curriculum (IX-X), 2. Term wise Senior Secondary Curriculum (XI-XII), 3. Guidelines for Internal Assessment/Practicum/ Project Work for Classes (IX-XII) and 4. Special Scheme of Assessment for Board Examination (X/XII).

All affiliated schools and students have access to these documents to understand the changes in the upcoming curriculum. Under the IX-X term wise sections, CBSE has uploaded subject wise documents such as – 1. Initial Pages, 2. Term wise Languages (Group-L), 3. Term wise Main Subjects(Group-A1), 4. Term wise Other Academic Electives -(Group-A2) and 5. Co-scholastic Areas and 6. Resources.

In case of senior secondary curriculum, the subject-wise uploaded documents include – 1. Initial Pages, 2. Term wise Languages(Group-L), 3. Revised Academic Electives (Group-A), 4. Co-Scholastic Areas and 5. Resources. Under the term-wise subject sections, candidates can click on their respective subjects to check the corresponding syllabus.

All affiliated schools and students have access to the revised curriculum documents uploaded by CBSE. The board authorities decided to improvise the curriculum for the academic year 2021-22 due to deal with the problems created by the pandemic. The 2020-21 academic year took place mostly through the virtual mode. Moreover, due to the surge in cases, CBSE was forced to cancel the Class 10 and 12 board exams. In case the pandemic situation persists for the next year, schools must be well-equipped to not have adverse effects on the academics of students. With this intention, the curriculum was revised this year.
