Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to conduct the Class 12 Physics 2021-22 exam tomorrow, on December 10, 2021. The exam will be conducted for a duration of 90 minutes i.e., 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. It will be held in the pen-and-paper mode, with the paper containing only multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Students will have to attempt a total of 35 questions, with each question being allotted 1 mark.
This year, CBSE has considerably changed the exam pattern whereby, the Term 1 exams will be held entirely in the objective method. Moreover, last year’s reduced syllabus will be applicable this year as well. Hence, for tomorrow’s CBSE Class 12 Physics 2021-22 exam, students will only have to study 70% of the syllabus, as opposed to 100%.
CBSE Class 12 Physics 2021-22 Topics Deleted Last Year
Last year, CBSE decided to reduce the Class 12 syllabus by 30%, deleting a few topics and concepts in the process. Students are expected to study the remaining 70% of the syllabus this year. So, the omitted topics which they can ignore are as follows –
Chapter-1 Electric charges and fields: Uniformly charged thin spherical shell (field both inside and outside)
Chapter-3 Current Electricity – Carbon resistors, and their colour code, series and parallel combinations of resistors
Chapter-4 Moving Charges and Magnetism: Cyclotron
Chapter-5 Magnetism and Matter: Magnetic field intensity due to a magnetic dipole (bar magnet) along both its axis and perpendicular to its axis, torque on a magnetic dipole (bar magnet) in a uniform magnetic field, para-, dia- and ferromagnetic substances, with examples, electromagnets, and factors affecting their strengths, permanent magnets.
Chapter-7 Alternating Current: Power factor, wattless current
Chapter-8 Electromagnetic waves, basic idea of displacement current
Chapter-9 Ray Optics and Optical Instruments: Reflection of light, spherical mirrors, mirror formula, scattering of light (blue colour of sky and reddish appearance of the sun at sunrise and sunset), resolving power of microscope and astronomical telescope, polarisation, plane polarised light, Brewster’s law, uses of plane polarised light and Polaroids
Chapter-11 Dual Nature of radiation and matter: Davisson-Germer experiment
Chapter-13 Nuclei: Radioactivity, alpha, beta, and gamma particles/rays and their properties, radioactive decay law, half-life and mean life, the binding energy per nucleon, and its variation with mass number
Chapter-14 Semiconductor Electronics: Materials, Devices, and Simple Circuits, Zener diode and their characteristics, Zener diode as a voltage regulator
CBSE Class 12 Physics 2021-22 Term 1 Syllabus
In addition to reducing the syllabus, CBSE has also provided a term-wise division of portion for the academic year 2021-22. On the basis of this bifurcation of the syllabus, the following are the topics coming for tomorrow’s exam –
Unit-I: Physical World and Measurement
Chapter–1: Physical World
Chapter–2: Units and Measurements
Unit-II: Kinematics
Chapter–3: Motion in a Straight Line
Chapter–4: Motion in a Plane
Unit–III Laws of Motion 10
Chapter–5: Laws of Motion
Unit–IV Work, Energy and Power
Chapter–6: Work, Energy, and Power
Unit–V Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body
Chapter–7: System of Particles and Rotational Motion
Unit-VI Gravitation
Chapter–8: Gravitation
