CBSE Justifies Fewer Gaps in Board Exams; No Relief to Anxious Students

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the class 12th date sheet on January 10, 2018. The dates caused a furore among the students. Parent, students, and even a section of teachers felt that the exam timeline was too packed and gives no time to students for revision or rest.

In response, the Board clarifies that tight schedule has been decided so that the students get enough time to prepare for entrance examination like JEE Main, KCET, KEAM, MU OET, etc. The national, state, and university level examination usually start in the month of April. Hence, the Board aims to finish the 10th and 12th examinations by the 2nd week.

Exams of class 12th are going to begin from March 05, 2018, and will end on April 12, 2018. Many exams are scheduled on consecutive days or the candidates are only getting one day break in between. Exam of History is going to be held on March 20 and on the very next day, i.e., March 21, students will be required to appear for the Mathematics exam. Both the subjects are important for the students and demand proper revision.

Similarly, there is only one day gap between Physics and English exam. The English language paper is due to be held on March 05 and after a day’s gap students will have to appear for Physics exam. Adding to the torment, as described by parents, Mathematics and Computer Science exams are scheduled on March 21 and 23, 2018, respectively. This will leave no time for the students to revise the subjects and score good marks in final exam.

Most troubled by the dates are the Humanities students. The 3 main papers are being conducted consecutively. Psychology paper is scheduled for April 05, Political Science will be conducted on April 06 and on April 07, 2018, the candidates will appear for Legal Studies. Students are now concerned that they may not be able to perform well and this may affect their 12th Board result.

Though CBSE states that it has prepared the datasheet so that the candidates can prepare for entrance examinations, the paper for Physical Education is just after JEE Main 2018 offline exam. The pen and paper JEE will be held on April 08 and the exam for Physical Education will be conducted on April 09, 2018. The thought of appearing for JEE Main and then immediately for Physical Education is exhausting enough for the students.

To this, the Central Board officials stated that there are nearly 200 subjects and some or other course combination will be held consecutively. The main aim is to finish the exam as soon as possible in April, hence, this was the most suitable way.

According to CBSE, the early end of the exams will help candidates shift the focus on competitive exams. Also, the Board has made date sheet after not just considering one factor but after focusing on number of things. The assembly elections are also due to be held in April-May. Hence, the Board must have also taken it into consideration.

Approximately 11.86 lakh students are going to appear for class 12th Board examinations. CBSE intended to do good by keeping less time gap between the examination but what are your thoughts on the matter? Is it good that the exams will end soon and the candidates will get more time to prepare for entrance exams or it is a bad move which will only add up stress? Let us know in the comment section below.

There is one more blunder also that CBSE has done. The blunder is that, it has not given even one day for preparation of Multimedia and Web Technology exam. Right after the Business Studies exam, next day is Multimedia and Web Technology exam. It is difficult to cope up in just half day as this subject is no less either!!

So, can any of you give me the email address of CBSE to whom I can talk about it?

I don’t want the website I want the email address of the respective person.

i have never seen such a stress giving and useless board in my life. their aim is to finish exam as early as possible, not to help students score good.

For preparation of physics we have less time and after entrance physical education is being conducted which is not done. If CBSE thinks that they made the datesheet by keeping in mind the entrance exams then they are totally wrong its burdening us.

The time table for grade 12 is a real torture for the students. The reason given by the board for fewer gaps is just baseless. Without doing well in the board exam, how can the students gain confidence in preparing for the entrance exams. The CBSE board is taxing the students.

first of all cbse itself is a bullshit institution ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….i dont know what they think of students…are we machines……or robots. our indian educational system is already outdated .why don’t they follow american system where students are given less pressure .all the exams are mcqs there. i have no hope for life……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

There Should Have More Gap Between PHYSICS Exam As PHYSICS is A Lenghty Subject

  13. Madhav says:

Well CBSE might be thinking about completing the exams early so that they can prepare for entrance exams. Well for your kind considerations, a person finishes preparation along with 12th std. So Physics should have been givena little more time as it is lengthy and in-depth study is required.
