CBSE Class 10, 12 Sample Paper 2021 Released; Term 1 Papers with 40+ Questions Create Confusion

If the marks scored by the candidates in the CBSE Class 10, 12 is a fractional value, then the authorities will round off the marks to the highest numerical value.

CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has released the CBSE Class 10, 12 Sample paper 2021 on the academic website of the board, cbse.gov.in. The candidates who will be appearing in the Term 1 board exams can download the subject wise sample papers from the official website. These sample papers provide the correct insight regarding the marking scheme, marks per question and maximum marks for Term 1 of session 2021-22.

Along with the sample papers, an important notice is also available on the official website, the major points of available on the same can be found below:

  • No question in the Term 1 will be of one mark
  • Except for the English language, all sample question papers for Mathematics and all other languages will have one mark for the correct answers.
  • If the marks scored in the exam are of fractional value, then the same will be rounded off to the highest numerical value.

The candidates are facing major confusion with the sample paper released by the board. According to a notice released by the board earlier (circular Acad- 53/2021), that Term 1 and Term 2 will have 40 marks each. However, the recent sample paper contradicts the notice released earlier. In many subjects, it was written that each question shall carry the same equal marks. It is unlikely that MCQs of the different sections will have different marks.

After going through the current notice, the experts have compiled two sets of possibilities. The first implies that the board may keep the marking scheme as 0.7/0.8 for 40/45 or 45/50 questions respectively. After this, they may keep the marking scheme as 1 mark per question for the remaining questions. The board can also choose to maintain the 1 mark per question scheme and can change the marks breakup for Term 1 and Term 2 later on keeping the weightage of Term 1 more than Term 2.

How to download the CBSE Class 10, 12 sample papers 2021?

The candidates can follow the correct steps mentioned below to download the CBSE Class 10, 12 sample papers 2021:

Step 1: Visit the official website of the CBSE board, cbse.gov.in

Step 2: Find and click on the academic website of CBSE and proceed further

Step 3: On the next page, find and click the flash link of the CBSE Class 10,12 Sample paper

Step 4: After this, choose the class 10/12 and open the sample paper pdf. Next, click on the SQP link and open the sample paper for the preferred subject

Step 5: Save a copy of the sample paper on the device for future reference.
