Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday released a notification permitting students to change their examination and practical centers for the upcoming CBSE class 10, 12 board exam 2021. It has come to the notice of the board that due to the COVID-19 situation, many students along with their families have shifted to some other city/country, therefore they are unable to appear for the class 10, 12 theory / practical exam from where the students are registered for the board examination.
To make a request for a change in exam / practical centers, it is mandatory that the students concerned should have been issued a roll number for the CBSE board examination. Students will need to make a request to the school for changing the exam center for theory or practical or both. While making the request, students also need to specify the city (state) in which they would prefer to appear in the theory examination/practical. It is to be noted that no change will be allowed once the request is submitted by the school. Students can submit the request for a change in the exam center by March 25, 2021.
In another notice, many schools requested to CBSE for allowing them to conduct the practical examinations in 03 shifts, instead of 02. This will allow the practical exams to be over soon and students will get more time to prepare for the theory exams. To this, the board has allowed the schools to conduct the practical exams in 3 shifts in a day. However, rest of the condition for conducting the practical exams will remain the same.

Another major change introduced by the board is that students will be able to apply for an additional subject involving practical work within 2 years. In a meeting held by the Examination Committee on December 15, 2020, it was approved that the time period for applying for the additional subjects is going to be reduced from 6 years to 2 years only. However, this condition is valid for the candidates only after passing the examination. The rule will be effective from
