The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) has announced the results for the Common Admission Test or CAT 2021 today, i.e. January 3, 2022. Candidates who have appeared for the exam can now download the scorecards from the official website – iimcat.ac.in. After visiting the official website, candidates have to click on the provided link for downloading the scorecards and then enter their user ID and password. The admission test is conducted every year to admit students to the management programmes mainly offered by the IIMs.

After the declaration of the results, it is seen that a total of 09 candidates have secured the 100 percentile. These candidates are all males and the maximum number of 100 percentile scorers are from Maharashtra. Out of the 09 candidates, 07 of them are from the engineering background while 02 are from non-engineering background.
Similarly, 19 candidates have been placed in the category of 99.99 percentiles and all of them are males. Maharashtra and Gujarat saw the highest number of students in this category. However, in the third category, i.e. the 99.98 percentiles, there are 19 candidates out of which 01 is female. The highest number of candidates in this percentile group are from Maharashtra (05).

The overall CAT 2021 result shows that the maximum students who have secured the top three percentiles are from engineering backgrounds. Moreover, the female topper securing 99.98 percentile is also from the engineering background. One can check the discipline-wise division of the percentile scorers from the table attached below.

CAT 2021 was successfully conducted on November 28, 2021. After the completion of the exam, candidates were given the facility to raise objections during December 08 to December 11, 2021. As per the media release available on iimcat.act.in, the CAT centre received a total of 161 objections. Out of these, 121 objections were from VARC, 17 from DILR and 23 from QA. However, only 01 objection was accepted from the QA section.
What’s Next?
Based on the CAT 2021 results and scores, the respective IIMs will release the shortlists for the upcoming admission processes. In addition to the IIMs, 88 non-IIM institutes will be using the CAT 2021 scores for admission into the management programmes. Hence, candidates are advised to check the website to ensure that the institution one is applying for is registered with the CAT centre.
