Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 official website went live on July 29, 2020. The official website iimcat.ac.in has been renewed and launched for the CAT exam to be held for admission in the 2021-23 session. As per the updates CAT 2020 will be held on November 29, 2020.
The registration process will begin from August 5 and the last date to register will be September 16, 2020. Admit card issuance will begin from October 28, 2020. CAT 2020 will be conducted in test centers spread across approximately 156 cities. Candidates will be given the option to select six test cities in order of preference
To apply for CAT candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in graduation. However, the SC / ST / PwD candidates need 45% marks. There is no age or attempt limit for this exam. Candidates in the final year of their degree course may also apply.
Last year, CAT was conducted by IIM Kozhikode and 2,44,169 candidates registered for the exam. The candidates who took the exam were 2,09,926 in number. 10 students scored the perfect 100 percentile in the exam.
CAT is the biggest national level entrance exam for PG management admission. Any graduate candidates, with more than 50% marks can apply for it. The exam conducted annually by one of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). All IIMS consider CAT scores for admission in PGP / MBA and FPM courses offered by them.
Selected candidates base don CAT scores go through the prescribed selection process by the IIMs, which mostly includes group discussion and a personal interview. Apart from the IIMs, CAT score is also considered for admission in MBA courses by other B-Schools too.
CAT is a computer-based test, in which questions are asked from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The syllabus of CAT is never defined by the IIMs but topics like Sentence Corrections, Idioms, Syllogisms, Antonyms and Synonyms, Pie Chart, Statement Conclusions, Puzzles, Trigonometry, Probability, Permutation and Combination etch are asked.
The exam is of total of 300 marks and the total number of questions asked is 100. For each correct answer, the candidates get 3 marks and 1 marks is deducted for attempting a question incorrectly. The complete duration of the exam is 3 hours and the candidates are asked MCQ and TOTA type questions.
Type in The Answers or TITA type questions are the type of question where the candidates have to type the answer using the virtual keyboard.
