Reading Time: 3 mins read

CAT 2018 will conduct soon within a week. On November 25, 2018, around 2 Lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam all over India. Since only a few days has been left for the exam, candidates are having butterflies in their stomach. CAT is well known to throw surprises every year. So, whether the exam is easy or difficult, candidates must not lose heart and give the exam with absolute determination.

#1. Mock Test

In the last week, do not overwhelm yourself with lots of mocks, two to three mocks will be enough. Importantly, remember to analyze them and learn from the mistakes. Candidates can also refer to the official mock test released by IIM Calcutta. Moreover, while choosing mocks, prefer mocks with different patterns in terms of difficulty level, number of questions, the order of questions etc.

#2. Revision

In the last few days, it is advantageous to revise the formulas and concepts. For quantitative ability, revising formulas helps to solve many questions directly. For the English section, keep reading articles from various topics. For data interpretation and logical reasoning, there are no specific formulas still you can revise basic concepts which help to solve questions from cubes, games & tournaments etc.

#3. Number of Questions vs Accuracy

In the exam, it is important to balance the number of attempts with accuracy. If the difficulty level of the exam is high then the number of attempts for all students will gradually decrease. So, in such a situation it is important to keep the accuracy of 100%, do not let it dip below 90%. On the D-day, try to solve at least 60% of the questions in each section, moreover, increase or decrease the same according to the difficulty level of the exam. Last year, 20-22 in VARC, 8-10 in DILR, and 20-22 in Quant were considered to be the good attempts.

#4. Do not compromise one section over another

Last year, most of the candidates were so drained after the DILR section that they could not able to focus on the quant section. So, treat every section separately, do not let the performance of a section hamper the performance of other sections. Also, in the individual section, pick the questions carefully, questions which seem easy in appearance may have a hidden trap in them.

Avoid preferring one section over another, as in case one section come difficult in the exam, then make the strategy to increase the attempts in other sections.

#5. Stay Calm

As less than one week left for the exam, do not worry about the leftover topics. Rather, spend the spend in revising formulas and mock tests. In case, candidates prefer to pick up new topics, then try to learn easy topics only. Importantly, avoid taking complicated topics like probability, permutation & combination etc.

Be healthy; Especially before the exam day, eat something light and have a quality sleep.

CAT 2018 Admit Card

For the exam day, keep the admit card and a photo identity proof ready. Candidates can download it from the official website of CAT 2018. On it, check the important instructions and follow the same in the exam hall.
