Official CAT 2018 Answer Key is expected to release within 2-3 days on the official website. According to a statement by CAT 2018 convenor Sumanta Basu, “the work on the answer key is still ongoing and any intimation regarding this will be available in next 10 days“. This news was circulated in the prestigious daily on November 26, 2018. If this news is true then, the answer key is expected to release between December 05-08, 2018.
For now, students must take a note that CAT 2018 Answer Key has not been available officially yet. There is fallacious news circulating on the various online sources that answer key for CAT 2018 examination has been released. Candidates must not pay heed to the rumors and rely on the official sources only for any latest information. Until now, IIM Calcutta has just released the CAT 2018 Response Sheet of the candidates who have appeared for the exam on November 25, 2018.
Students must not confuse between the response sheet and the answer key. The former is just the copy of the answer marked by a candidate in the actual exam. It does not have the correct answers to the questions asked in the test. The response sheet was released by IIMC on November 30, 2018.
Also, candidates must not confuse between the answer key released by IIM CAT and other unofficial sources. There are many websites on which unofficial CAT 2018 answer key is available. Students can refer to these sources until the official answer key is released. So, don’t get panic with the false statements about the answer key. In case, there is a doubt, visit the iimcat.ac.in and then check the student login for any latest updates.
Usually, recent changes on the website do not reflect immediately. So, use the CAT registration number and password to check if the answer key is released. Once the official answer key will be finally available, candidates can crosscheck their marked answer with the answer key. With the help of the key, calculate the raw scores that could be secured in the exam.
Candidates can expect the difference in the raw score and a scaled score in the final result. On the CAT 2018 Result, the scaled score of each candidate will be printed. Which means IIMs follow the normalization process in order to scale the actual scores. The process is done after considering the factors like difficulty level, allocation of marks etc across 2 slots.
Once the CAT result is available, IIMs will release the list of candidates who are eligible to appear for the second round. After the evaluation of candidates’ performance in CAT exam, academics, work experience etc, a student gets an invitation to attend the Written Ability Test/ Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. For admission to Non-IIM institutes, follow the process peculiar to each college. To get the complete details, visit the official website of CAT accepting B-schools.
