British Council (BC) has published the IELTS Result 2018 of exam held on September 29, 2018, on October 12, 2018 at ielts.britishcouncil.org. Candidates who had appeared in the exam can login to check result by entering test date, date of birth, identification document number, candidate number.
Candidate needs to enter passport number in identification document number field, and if that starts with “0”, then candidates must skip the “0” and then enter remaining digits to check result.
To check result, candidates need to visit https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/CheckResults.aspx and enter login credentials, then click Find button. Official page to check result says that system will automatically remove results after 40 days of the exam. However at ielts.org, the information available is that result will be available for viewing for 28 days.
The exam organizers send IELTS result of each test taker to upto 5 organizations that were selected by the candidate at the time of booking test centre, for free. Those who wish that their scores be sent to more institutes can opt for the same by paying relevant fee.
When candidates login to check their result, they can also see a table that explains the scores and advice for improvement. Scores obtained in IELTS are understood as band scores in bands ranging from 1 to 9. A band score of 9 refers to an expert user, whereas 1 is for a non-user. In between these two are band score 2 for intermittent user, band score 3 for extremely limited user, band score 4 for limited user, band score 5 for modest user, band score 6 for competent user, band score 7 for good user, band score 8 for very good user.
Overall band score encompasses four band score components namely listening, reading, writing, speaking. An average ending in 0.25 is rounded off to the next half band and likewise is done for those ending in 0.75.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a test of English language proficiency. It is the most widely known English language proficiency test used for the purpose of admissions in higher education, global migration. Over 3 million people take the IELTS test every year.
