After the much-awaited Supreme Court order, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to conduct the Class 10, 12 Term II board exams 2022 from April 26, 2022. They will be held through the offline mode, at selected centres across the country. Following in the footsteps of CBSE, other central and state education boards have also decided to conduct their board exams in the offline mode.
What was the SC Verdict?
Only yesterday, a court hearing took place at the Supreme Court regarding a petition filed by Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai. This petition was against CBSE’s decision of conducting Class 10 and 12 board exams 2022 in the offline mode, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary argument was – if most lectures were held through the online mode, why should exams be held offline?
Dismissing the plea, the Apex Court called it “premature” and impulsive, giving false hope to students. Instead of filing such petitions in court, both entities (CBSE and students) must take a call internally. The bench led by Justice Khanwilkar permitted CBSE to continue with its preparation while asking the petitioners to come back, in case of any issues with the date sheet.
Exams to be held OFFLINE!
Following the SC verdict, most central and state education board will be holding their Class 10 and 12 exams in the physical format.

Looking at the table, it is evident that most states will be conducting their Class 10 and 12 board exams 2022 in the March-April period. While Bihar Secondary Education Board (BSEB) is done with their exams, Madhya Pradesh Board is currently organising the exams at affiliated schools.
