Assam Public Service Commission is inviting offline applications on prescribed proforma for recruitment into 577 vacancies in the Panchayat & Rural Development Department and Public Works Department. The vacancies are for the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Civil) and Assistant Architect. A detailed advertisement is released in this regard at the official website of APSC i.e. apsc.nic.in. The complete details of the recruitment including eligibility conditions and application process are indicated through the advertisement. Eligible and willing candidates must note that their applications must reach the authorities at APSC by July 24, 2020.
APSC has advertised 577 openings for the aforementioned posts. The total vacancies are bifurcated among the posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil)-222 & Junior Engineer (Civil)-344 under the P&RD Department and the post of Assistant Architect-11 under the Public Works (Building & NH) Department. In order to apply for the post of Asst. Engineer, candidates must have a B.E. degree in Civil Engineering. Candidates having a diploma/degree in Civil Engineering from an AICTE approved institution. are eligible to apply for the post of Jr. Engineer. For the post of Asst. Architect, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and must be a member of the Council of Architecture, India. All candidates must be within the age range of 21 to 38 years although specific relaxations on the upper age are applicable to candidates of special categories. In addition, the knowledge of at least one of the official languages of Assam is a mandatory eligibility condition.
Eligible candidates are selected for final appointment on a direct recruitment basis as per the selection procedure which is to be announced by the Commission in due course of time. In general, the Commission has hinted in the official advertisement that screening/written test and final viva-voce may be used for the selection of candidates as per merit. Assistant Engineers and Architectures are appointed at the Pay Band 4 on a pay scale of Rs 30,000 to 1,10,000 along with a Grade Pay of Rs 12700. Junior Engineers are appointed at the Pay Band 2 on a pay scale of Rs 14000 to 60,500 with Grade Pay of Rs 8700.
The Commission has detailed the complete application process in the official advertisement for the recruitment. Offline applications are to be forwarded by eligible candidates on the proforma available at the website of the Commission i.e. assam.nic.in. The application form must be filled up and duly signed by the candidate. Along with, specified self-attested copies of documents/testimonials are required to be enclosed with the application form. Candidates need to deposit the payment of the application fee which is Rs 250 for General and EWS candidates only. SC/ST/OBC/MOBC candidates must pay a discounted fee of Rs 150 only while BPL candidates are completely exempted from the payment of the application fee. The application fee can be paid offline in the head account through the Treasury Challan or online through the GRAS platform. The original Treasury Challan must be attached with the application form. All documents, including the filled up and signed application form, must be sent in an envelope to Deputy Secretary, APSC, Jawaharnagar, Khanapara, Guwahati – 781002.
