Director of Government Examinations, Andhra Pradesh, has released the hall ticket for National means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) scheme examination at bseap.org. The NMMS 2019 exam is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2019. Admit card for NTSE level 1 exam has also been issued, both exams are on the same date.
The authorities have published a short notification to the effect, on the official website of Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh. As instructed in it, one needs school u_dise code in order to download the admit card. To download the NMMS hall ticket, one has to go to bseap.org, click NMMS. Then click the NMMS hall tickets download link and login to get the document.
Each state’s NMMS hall ticket contains different details. However a few common details in the admit card are name of student, d/o s/o, school name, district name, date of birth, caste category, postal address, photograph, exam center venue, time of exam, instructions for exam.
NMMS exam will consist of two papers namely MAT and SAT. MAT refers to mental ability test, which will have 90 multiple choice questions of 90 marks. SAT is the scholastic aptitude test with 90 multiple choice questions covering social science, science, mathematics of class 7th and 8th. There will be 12 questions of physics, 11 of chemistry, 12 of biology, 20 of mathematics, 10 of history, 10 of geography, 10 of political science, and 5 of economics.
In both the papers, each question shall be of 1 mark. There will not be any negative marking.
NMMS is a centrally sponsored scheme, in which, the government offers 100,000 scholarships every year to meritorious students whose parental income falls below Rs 1.5 LPA. A fixed number of students are selected from each state. The scholarship is given yearly to students when they come to class 9th, then 10th, then 11th, and then 12th. Amount given is Rs 12000 PA, at the rate of Rs 1000 pm.
The number of students applying for NMMS in AP has been steadily growing. In years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, the respective number of applicants were 39,437 (thirty nine thousand four hundred and thirty seven), 46,964 (forty six thousand, nine hundred and sixty four), 53,450 (fifty three thousand, four hundred and fifty), 84,556 (eighty four thousand, five hundred and fifty six). In the years 2016, 2017, and 2018, the number of students given the scholarships were 4,485, then 4,019, and then 3,961.
Students should get at least 40% in aggregate of MAT, SAT. However SC and ST candidates need 32%. Then, on the basis of their scores, top candidates equal to the quota of the state, are selected for scholarship. At the time of selection for scholarship, students should have at least 55% in class 8th exam, or 50% for SC and ST. Last year in AP, 2,325 girl students qualified for the scholarship, and 1,636 boys did. Maximum applicants were from BC category.
