The Andhra Pradesh (AP) state government has hereby taken the decision to cancel SSC (10th) as well as Inter (11th and 12th) exams. The decision comes in wake of Supreme Court’s strong words against holding the exams, and also the lack of feasibility to adhere to deadline of July 31, 2021, to announce result after holding exams.
Adimulapu Suresh, State Education Minister has shared the information to the press today. Students who were expected to appear for the board exams are now exempted. The result criteria, however, will be announced in a few days.
Like other state boards, now Andhra Pradesh SSC and inter exams are also cancelled in the wake of COVID-19. It is not safe to ask students to appear for the examination amidst epidemic. Students safety and health is important than the examination. Hence, the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education and Government of Andhra Pradesh has altogether decided to cancel the Class 12 Board exam of the state.
However, the result declaration criteria are not specified by the Board. BIEAP will either follow CBSE’s objective criteria or come up with different criteria. After the final consultation with Education Departments and other Ministers, the final decision will be announced in due course of time. So, students are advised to wait for the official announcement. They should keep an eye on the official website of AP Board, bie.ap.gov.in to get the latest updates.
Earlier, the AP Intermediate Exam was proposed to be held in July. The exam schedule was to be in such a way that students would have had to appear on 5-6 days. At the beginning of the session, the exam was slated to start in May. However, first the board postponed the entire schedule due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the second wave. Students and their parents demanded the cancellation of the Boards examination after lakhs of cases were reported on a regular basis. After the consultation with Experts, the Govt of Andhra Pradesh and APBIE has decided to cancel the exam.
Along with the AP board, all other state boards have now also cancelled their class 12th board exam. It was the Centre’s decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam cancellation that prompted other boards to cancel their exams as well. PMO had, at the start of the month, announced the cancellation of class 12th Board Exam 2021. Following this decision, CISCE has also cancelled the 12th exam.
