The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will not hold the class 11 exams and will promote the students in class 12 without any examinations. This decision has been taken by the council due to the pandemic situation. Last year too the council had to cancel the class 11 exams due to the pandemic.

The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4, are now postponed due to a steep rise in COVID-19 cases.

The Assam Higher Secondary Education controller of exams Pankaj Borthakur has officially announced that “the higher secondary first-year examination has been cancelled, all the students who have filed up online applications for the same year by declared to have been promoted to the HS 2nd year class for the academic session 2021-22.”

Approx 2.4 lakh students in Assam have registered to appear for the class 11 examination this year.

On the other hand, the class 12 exam in the state has been postponed until further notice, the new dates will be announced later. The class 12 exams were scheduled to be held From May 11 to June 14, 2021.

Also, the council has not cancelled the class 10 exams like most of the states. AHSEC has also postponed the class 10 examination. The revised timetable for class 10 boards will be also announced later.

As per the reports, Around 4 lakh students are expected to appear for the Assam Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2021.

Students from various state boards, CBSE, and ICSE boards have demanded the cancellation of Class 12th Board exams. Hashtag #saveboardstudents is trending all over the prominent social media platforms. Students are worried about their health and many have lost near and dear ones during this second wave of CIVID-19. Hence, students want the class 12 boards to be cancelled like the class 10 boards.

However, as of now, AHSEC has not cancelled the class 10 and 12 exams. Both these exams have been postponed till further notice.

AHSEC has also declared earlier the reduction of the syllabus of class 10 and 12 bards due to the academic losses faced in the schools. The syllabus has been reduced by 30%.

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is a state governmental board of education formed in the year 1984. The board is responsible for conducting, regulate, supervise and develop the system for Higher Secondary Education (+ 2 stage) examination. Besides this, AHSEC also declares the result for class 12 examination on its official website.

As per the available data COVID-19 cases in the state is 5000+ new cases approximately per day.
