The HP Board of School Examinations (HPBoSE) has announced the evaluation criteria for class 10th students. The board cancelled the class 10th examinations due to increase in COVID-19 cases across the country. Since the exams are cancelled, it has now been decided to promote the students of Class 10 based on their performances in the first term, second term, pre-board and internal assessment exams held during the academic year 2020-21.
According to the official statement released by HPBOSE, the final results will be calculated on the basis of performances in the first term, second term, pre-board, and internal assessment exams. As far as students of the open school are concerned, the evaluation criteria are yet to be announced.
As per the government’s official order, it reads as “Keeping in view the sharp surge of covid-19 cases in the State, it was also decided in the meeting that the annual examination of the 10th standard of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education would stand cancelled.”
It was further added in the official statement that the students would be promoted to class 11 by the board as per the norms suggested by CBSE for its students for the class 10 examination.
Earlier, HP Board postponed the Class 10 board examination due to the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases. However, now the board has decided to promote the students of Class 10. The HPBOSE 10th exams were earlier scheduled to be conducted between April 13 and April 28, 2021.
Before HPBOSE, CBSE had released the marking scheme and assessment criteria for Class 10th students. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also decided to promote the Class 10 students through internal assessment and the result for the same is likely to be announced on June 20, 2021. On the other hand, HP BOSE has not announced the date for the declaration of the class 10th result.
The class 12th exam and annual exam of colleges have also been postponed. The decision regarding conducting the exams will be taken after reviewing the Covid-19 situations in the state.
