All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has invited students for the launch of approximately 6.1 lakh internship opportunities. AICTE Internship Day event is being conducted tomorrow, August 25, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The event will be broadcasted live on YouTube and the official link to attend this event is already been shared via Twitter. AICTE authorities took to Twitter today, August 24, 2021, to make this announcement. Various such internship initiatives had been initiated in the past to equip students with the latest trends and industrial skills, pertaining to their field.

As of now, AICTE has disclosed very limited information regarding this internship programme. The common public is only aware of the total number of internships i.e., approx. 61.lakh opportunities. Other details such as internship fields, their respective duration, registration formalities, application schedule and stipend (if any) are yet to be disclosed. Mostly, the registration process is likely to be conducted on the official website aicte-india.org . Authorities are also expected to issue public notices, explaining the issue in detail.
Students are hoping to receive more clarity at tomorrow’s event in which AICTE is scheduled to launch this programme. Important individuals from the Education ministry are also expected to attend this event.
This is not the first time AICTE is launching a plethora of internships in various fields. In fact, earlier this year, AICTE introduced 2,500 virtual internships. These internships were to be conducted through The Urban Learning Internship Programme (TULIP) portal. Based on their performance, interns were to be paid Rs.12,000 as a monthly stipend, as indicated by the council.
TULIP is a portal created in 2020 using the joint efforts of two important ministries – the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The portal was further developed by the AICTE officials with the intent of providing internship opportunities to fresh graduates. These opportunities would last for varying durations, some completing a span of 1 year. Graduates from urban local bodies (ULBs) and smart cities across India were eligible to apply.
Another similar initiative was taken by the AICTE authorities in May 2021 which comprised of 1 lakh internship opportunities for engineers in the oil and gas sector. These internships were particularly created for second-and third-year students in the engineering field. Apart from internships, AICTE also garners appreciation to those colleges which take extra initiative in promoting internships among students.
