Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) issued a public notice on Monday, April 19, 2021, regarding the postponement of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2021. According to the notice, authorities are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Thereafter, they shall review the situation and accordingly take a decision regarding the exam date in the first week of May 2021. A notification regarding any change in the examination date shall release soon after. Candidates are instructed to visit the official website of CLAT 2021 i.e., consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
India is currently facing the second wave of COVID-19. Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases, rumours regarding the postponement of CLAT 2021 was making the rounds. Acknowledging these rumours, the consortium of NLUs issued a public notice on April 19, 2021.
Authorities further advised students to not panic due to the rumours. The consortium shall undertake adequate measures as and when the situation demands. Applicants shall be updated about the measures subsequently.
CLAT 2021 registration process began on January 01, 2021. The last date to submit the application form has been extended to April 30, 2021. As of now, the national-level law entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 13, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Interested and eligible candidates still have a few days to register for CLAT 2021. To do so, they must click on the “click here” option present on the homepage of the official website consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates must click on the “register” option and enter the required details like name, email ID, mobile number and password.
After successful registration, candidates must login to the official website using their registered mobile number and password. Thereafter, they must fill the CLAT 2021 application form, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. Once these formalities are done, candidates are advised to print or download a copy of the confirmation page for future reference.
Candidates are expected to upload certain important documents as part of the CLAT 2021 application process. These documents include a front-facing recent passport-size photograph, candidate’s signature, category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable) and BPL category certificate (if needed). All these documents must be uploaded according to the format and dimensions mentioned by the consortium.
CLAT 2021 application fee is to be paid only through the online mode. Moreover, the exam fee depends on the category to which the candidate belongs. Hence, general, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO and OCI candidates have to pay Rs.4000 as an application fee. The exam fee is Rs.3,500 for candidates belonging to SC, ST and BPL categories. Candidates can pay an additional 500 Rs to avail the previous year question papers.
Candidates must also bear certain transaction charges for remitting the fee online. Moreover, they must note that the application fee is non-refundable. All these formalities must be completed within the stipulated deadline i.e., April 30, 2021.
