WBJEE 2021 Paper 2 Analysis: Physics Slightly Tricky, Chemistry Easiest Of All Subjects – Answer Keys Started Releasing

With the conclusion of paper 2, WBJEE 2021 is hereby successfully conducted. After the 2nd shift examination, this is the analysis of the Physics and Chemistry paper.

WBJEE 2021 Paper 2 Analysis

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has conducted the paper 2 exam of WBJEE 2021, which was of Physics and Chemistry. The paper 2 examination is conducted between 2 pm and 4 pm at all designated centers. The examination was held in offline pen-paper mode at 274 exam centers across the West Bengal. As many as 80 questions were asked from Physics and Chemistry combined in paper 2. According to the students, the difficulty level of Paper 2 was easy to moderate.

Paper 2 consisted of 40 questions each from Physics and Chemistry subjects. The level of the Physics questions was moderate to difficult, whereas, the questions from Chemistry were comparatively easy.

In Physics, questions were asked from these topics – Gravitation Thermodynamics, Properties of Matter, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Waves, Magnetic effect of Current, EMI, Optics, and Atomic Physics.

Likewise, questions from Chemistry were from these topics- Atomic Structure, Periodic Table, Equilibrium, Chemical Energetics, Coordination Compound, States of Matter, Carbon Compounds, Benzene, Alcohols, and Environmental Chemistry, etc.

Some of the questions of Physics were a bit tricky as numerical-based values were given. However, several questions were directly solvable using Physics formulas and theorems. Students with average practice could easily attempt 20 questions.

On the other hand, the questions of Chemistry were reportedly easier one in comparison to both Physics and Mathematics. The weightage of class 11th was comparatively equivalent to class 12th. Students with a strong grasp of the basics of Physical and Organic Chemistry could easily attempt 25 questions in this section. 

WBJEE 2021 Answer Keys Have Started Releasing

Coaching centers such as Pathfinder have already released the answer key of the WBJEE 2021 exam held today. Following suite, other institutes like Aakash, Adamas shall also do so. However the official answer key will be released by WBJEEB in a few days time, which is most likely going to be by end of this month.

As far as WBJEE paper 2 structure is concerned, there were a total of three categories of questions with 30, 05, and 05 questions respectively. Category 1 and 2 were single option correct, with +1, -.25, and +2, -1 marking scheme respectively. Whereas category 3 questions were of one or more answer correct type questions.

Based on media reports, the entire examination was conducted following the social distancing and other Covid-19 related guidelines issued by the Govt. of India. At the exam centre, the candidates were seen wearing a face mask/cover inside the examination center. The registered candidates were issued detailed instructions through the call letters.

As many as 90,000 students had registered to appear for the WBJEE 2021 examination. The entrance test is conducted with an aim to shortlist candidates for admissions to undergraduate engineering and pharmacy courses in all participating Institutes and Universities of West Bengal.
