The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India has led to massive unrest among students who were aspiring to appear in various engineering entrance exams for admissions this year. Even amidst strict restrictions upon day to day activities, certain Universities have already conducted engineering entrance tests. On the other hand, some have postponed entrance tests and will declare revised date in due course of time.
The Vellore Institute of Technology has already conducted the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) for admission to the B.Tech course in the deemed to be a University institution. Owing to the pandemic, the VIT adopted the online remote proctored mode of conducting the exam this year. The exam was conducted on May 28, 29 & 31, 2021. As per reports, the results are tentatively scheduled to be declared in the first week of June 2021.
While the online proctored mode is definitely providing an alternative channel for conducting entrance exams during the pandemic, certain entrance tests are on hold. A consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka recently postponed the COMEDK UGT 2021 due to the pandemic. The examination was scheduled to be held as a computer-based test. The last date to register for the exam has now been extended to July 15, 2021.
While COMEDK 2021 for B.Tech admission has been postponed, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has announced that the Manipal MET 2021 exam will be conducted in the same month. The examination is scheduled to be held from June 11 to 14, 2021. The online registrations are ongoing registered candidates have to book an exam slot on or before June 03, 2021. The exam will be held as a remote proctored test and the last date to apply is June 05, 2021.
The national-level Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2021 was postponed halfway and two sessions of the exam are yet to be conducted. While the NTA has already conducted the February & May sessions of the exam this year, the April and May sessions have been postponed. JEE Main qualifiers can get admission to B.Tech program in NITs, CFTIs and IIITs. A final decision is expected now that the central education board has cancelled the class 12 board examination, i.e. the minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the JEE Main.

Likewise, Birla Institute of Technology and Science has also postponed its engineering entrance test. BITSAT 2021 was earlier scheduled to be held on June 24 to 29, 2021. However, BITS Pilani has postponed the exam as of now. The exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in July-August, 2021 as per the latest updates. Registrations are ongoing for undergraduate engineering aspirants on the official website till June 30, 2021.
