Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has cancelled the UP board class 10 board exams 2021. The announcement has been officially made by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Dinesh Sharma.
As per official data, a total of 29,94,312 students will be promoted without exams, to class 11. The assessment criteria will be announced soon.
Dr Dinesh Sharma has further announced that students in class 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 associated with different boards will be promoted without exams. This will benefit over 56 lakh students in the state. The decisions have been taken keeping the well being of students in mind.
However, as of now, the decision to cancel or hold class exams of UP Board is on hold. A decision regarding that will be taken soon. The tentative stand is that the class 12 board exams will be held. All exams will be conducted within a 15 days window. There will be proper social distancing protocols et al. This year a total of 26,10,316 students have registered for class 12 exams in the state.
Date sheet for class 12 exams will be released soon. The decision will be announced either on May 31, 2021, or June 1, 2021.
The Deputy Chief Minister has also said that the board is ready to hold exams as per protocols. All question papers have been printed. There will be 8513 exam centers. The exams will be of 1.5 hours only. The question papers will have 10 questions, out of which, students will have to answer only 3 questions.
UP Board had reduced the syllabus by 30%, last year in July. Among the steps taken this year for the students include conducting online classes, education via Doordarshan, and other platforms like Swayam Prabha Channel, e-Vidya, and more. Besides the schools are coordinating Whatsapp groups to maintain regular coordination among students, teachers, and authorities.
The other boards where class 10 exams have been cancelled include CBSE, ICSE, Goa Board, Gujarat Board, Haryana Board, HPBOSE, MP Board, Maharashtra Board, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarajhand. On the other hand, boards like West Bengal have decided to hold the class 10 exams.
Major decision on board exams are anticipated in the next 2 days. The CBSE hearing in Supreme Court is also on May 31, 2021.
