Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) released a press note on February 27, 2021 announcing the changes in the Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test (TS EDCET) 2021. These changes are pertaining to the examination syllabus as well as paper pattern. A virtual meeting was also conducted on February 27, 2021 by the test committee under the Chairmanship of Professor T. Papi Reddy. Subsequently, major changes have been announced in the state-level examination.
TSCHE released a public notice announcing changes in the syllabus, paper pattern and eligibility criteria for TS EDCET 2021. According to the approved changes, the entrance examination for the upcoming academic year shall be of 150 marks and of 2 hours duration. The public notice also specified the demarcation of marks into various sections. Subject/Content comprising of Telangana state curriculum up to Class 10 shall be of 60 marks. In this section, Maths, Science and Social Studies shall be allotted 20 marks each.
The examination also comprises of other sections such as Teaching Aptitude, General English, General Knowledge and Educational Issues, and Computer Awareness. General Knowledge and Educational Issues shall be allotted 30 marks. The remaining three sections shall comprise of 20 marks each.
The press notice also specified the syllabus to be accommodated in this year’s TS EDCET 2021 examination. Subject/Content section shall contain questions from the syllabus of Class 1-10 included in Telangana State education curriculum. These questions shall primarily focus on reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Teaching Aptitude questions shall be related to understanding the teaching-learning process, classroom management as well as mentoring with emphasis on teacher-student relationship.
The General English section shall contain reading comprehension, spelling errors, vocabulary, phrase replacement, error detection, word association, etc. General Knowledge section shall comprise questions based on current affairs of India and the world and contemporary education issues. Lastly, the Computer Awareness section shall accommodate questions based on internet, memory, networking and fundamentals of computer.
The committee members, during the virtual meeting, also decided to bring in reforms into the eligibility criteria. Accordingly, the eligibility criteria shall be made simple so that students from different disciplines shall be eligible to appear for the B.Ed entrance examination. The university shall also conduct the Degree final year examinations and subsequently, decide the entrance exam dates. However, the entrance exam shall be tentatively conducted in the month of August, 2021.
TS EDCET 2021 registration process shall commence from March 24, 2021. The last date to submit the application form without late fee is May 5, 2021. However, the last date to submit the online application form with late fee is May 15, 2021. Other important details pertaining to the examination shall be disclosed shortly.
